SFI PU demands for better Security in Girls Hostel...!

THE `NAKED' TRUTH

The very next week after our Hon'ble Vice - Chancellor and the Student Council of P.U. had reached in a consensus to ensure the safety  and progress of students, the students of P.U. are thrown into a nightmare that takes away their sleep. The callous attitude of the University Authority over the safety of students has been once again exposed by a series of incidents in the ladies hostels that left the students panic stricken. The irresponsibility of the authority has reached to such an extent that the girls students are even deprived of their basic rights to study and sleep without fear.

Once it happened on the friday last in Kaveri Hostel, to be repeated in Saraswati, Ganga and now again in Kaveri. When it happened in Saraswati the authorities came and ensured that the security will be tightened and all would be done to ensure the safety of the girl students. But on the very next day the same incident repeated, exposing the hallowness of the assurances. Still the ladies hostels have broken windows, unlocked grills, bushes and trees behind and the security personnel who would not turn their head without a permission from the authority. It seems that the roads are safer that the hostels.

It is ridiculous that one of the officials did not even hesitate to suggest the girls to lock their hesitate to suggest the girls to lock their doors and stay inside their rooms as if girls are the intruders. Much more can be expected from a University where a Gender gate is justified in terms of the increasing abortion rates!!!

Any move to impose more restrictions on the girl students in the name of ensuring safety should be unitedly resisted at any cost by the students community of Pondicherry University.
